Tuling HCM module

Academic-Hierarchy Positions

Principal, Dean, HOD, COE, IQAC Coordinator — modeled as real role types, not generic org-chart boxes.

About this module

Most HR systems model an organization as a flat reporting tree — manager, employee, done. That works for a corporate sales team; it doesn’t work for a college, where “who is HOD of Computer Science this semester” and “who is currently acting Principal while the permanent Principal is on leave” are real governance questions with real answers that need to be tracked, not guessed at.

Tuling HCM’s position model was built around how Indian academic institutions actually govern themselves — semester-scoped roles, in-charge appointments backed by office orders, and regulatory-body tagging for accreditation — not adapted from a generic corporate HR product after the fact.

Capabilities

  • Real Academic Role Types

Principal, Vice Principal, Dean, HOD, Coordinator, In-Charge, TPO, IQAC Coordinator, Controller of Examinations, Dean of Student Welfare, Librarian, Lab In-Charge, NSS/NCC Officer — built in as explicit role types, not free-text job titles.

  • Semester- and Program-Aware Scoping

A position can be scoped to the whole institution, a specific program, a department, or even a single semester (odd/even/both/annual) — matching how academic governance actually works, not a flat corporate org chart.

  • Regulatory Body Tagging

Positions can be tagged against the regulatory body they answer to — UGC, AICTE, PCI, BCI, NCTE, MCI — useful for accreditation and compliance documentation.

  • Acting / In-Charge Appointments

Track when someone is holding a position "in-charge" rather than permanently, with the office order reference number — a distinction that matters in institutional governance and audit trails.

  • Critical Role Flagging

Any position can be flagged as critical, feeding directly into succession planning — so bench-strength gaps show up against the roles that actually matter to institutional continuity.
